I'm not in favor of this. I don't post that often but in both incarnations of this board I have sold many items and never ripped anyone off.

poor jc. jc doesn't like the new policy. jc is sad. jc might have to make a feeble attempt at being a worthwhile contributor to the forum, so that jc can advertise his overpriced collecibles. poor jc.

Time to start making worthless posts I guess. I've been on the board for a few years and have yet to hit 40 posts. How about an ongoing sale thread for us losers who meet the minimum # of posts?

Fair enough, but with only one or two exceptions I've had really good experiences dealing with people on the board and the same can't always be said for Ebay. And it might be naive of me but it seems like this board is often a place where people go when they're looking to sell to people they hope might be really into the music as opposed to simply trying to get top dollar from a sale. Or at the very least a place where people can get first crack at something before a seller turns to Ebay as a last resort. Hell, I know I've sold or traded records for less than I would have gotten in $$ from Ebay when dealing with people I've met through this board and others. But yeah, I can definitely see the rationale behind trying to purge the board of people who sign up merely to try making a buck and nothing more, no argument there.

I think the post minimum works for a couple reasons. One is the one you mentioned, keeping people wanting to use the board solely to make money, and the other is to keep people from ripping others off. when someone posts some stuff for sale and has no other posts to speak of, it's impossible to separate the legit folks like yourself from the scams.
100 posts isn't so bad. You're almost halfway there anyway.
