TONER LOW is an awesome shout. Played two shows with them, slept (at), snored, smoked and drank with them during our tour (in Germany and in Holland). Solid people, quiet sleepers.

Is it you I did the Lords Of Metal interview with?

Saw Hawkwind in edinburgh at the weekend, really enjoyed it. Would be cool to see them on the mainstage at Roadburn, maybe even as headliner

Keep an eye out for Goat from Sweden. So far they've only released one 7" called "Goatman" on Rocket Recordings earlier this year, but the debut full length "World Music" is supposed to be released in August. Yeah, it's pretty gimmicky and tongue-in-cheek, but not in an annoying way, and they play a very original and highly enjoyable mix of krautrock, psychedelic rock / space rock and - by lack of a better term - 'world music'. Check it out:

They're ok, next "flavor of the month" band probably. The "voodoo"-thing makes them stand out nicely from the rest of the "occult rock"-bands but they really should've chosen a better name. There are at least 20 bands called "Goat".

Yes, I can see where you're coming from. It is indeed pretty likely that this will become one of those 'flavor of the month' bands around the time the debut full length gets released, the key elements are all present. Especially the 'mysterious' nature of the band will probably work wonders.

Having said that, I've been listening to that 7" more often than I expected ever since I received in the mail some time ago and I'm starting to get really curious about the full length. If it is as catchy as the rest of their repertoire it will most likely get lots and lots of playtime over here. Time will tell.

The combination of rock and African rhythms can be an interesting one (even Ginger Baker already knew that back in the 70's), but I'm afraid Goat will turn out to be yet another novelty act, just like that overrated shite band Ghost. Might as well just book Tinariwen, they're actually the real thing, genuine desert rock

Speaking of Africa, apparently Kenya and Botswana have pretty big heavy metal scenes going on. Check out this article and take a look at these kids enjoying themselves

O,and these guys and one gal are from Madagascar:

Of course back in the 90's there was this Afro-heavy rock band called Tribe After Tribe but they were shit. I really hope someone will combine those genres in a good way someday. The grooving and droning potential is certainly there...

Actually, Dutch punk rockers The Ex did some pretty cool collaborations with Ethiopian musicians, but I guess it's just not very Roadburny..
