Opeth - My Arms, Your Hearse 2LP

that completes the Opeth collection I wanted; I don't need anything after Blackwater Park ;)

Displeased or Back On Black?

both somewhat, thought they had their peak with Blackwater Park, rest after that didn't quite grow on me as the earlier ones.

at a Toronto shop, SONIC BOOM.
great selection of new and used and a smattering of vinyl.

some really great early stuff. got that tinny mono sound but you can feel the aches and pains,
and his always unique guitar style.
picked it up especially because it featured STACK O LEE.

i've been reading a book on the song (a..k.a STAGGER LEE, STACK & BILLY, etc.) and have been hunting any recordings of it i can find.
there is really a wonderfull mythos around this song and it's genesis
and a whole lot of great artists have covered it, always adding their own flavour.

so far i've found it on discs by: BLack KEys, FATS DOMINO, WOODY GUTHRIE, NICK CAVE, LLOYD PRICE, MISSISSIPI JOHN.
but i'm still digging.

That's a noble quest. That song has been on tons of records in various forms, in movies, etc. Here is a more recent version by Modern Life is War that I quite like.
