Saw their crushing gig last night in NYC. Great as ever - I think this was my 5th time seeing them. It looks like these guys have tried hard to become as popular as Metallica or Slayer by playing tons of festival gigs & opening up for much bigger (and less talented) bands. Even though the gig was sold out, I continually see HoF in smaller venues. So how come they haven't become a huge international band? Hell, even Mastodon is bigger than HoF now.

Is this lack of larger venue rock stardom the band's choice? Do bands have to be especially motivated to play huge venues (or arenas), or is it a management choice (or the label's choice)? And please don't bring up issues like integrity, cuz there have been several international metal bands out there that have not given up their integrity and are playing huge venues.

Yes, your band is great and everything but you don't have the TEETH to be a mega-star rock band...

They look more hipster than Metallica or Slayer.

I think there are a lot of people that remember Metallica and Slayer from the 80s. There are a lot of people who like them but don't care to check out newer stuff coming out.

totally - I love HoF but its nasty, raw and very aggressive music - this is not going to attract a mainstream "metal" audience or fill arenas.
