So a person with an even passing knowledge of Alien SHOULD have known it was a different planet not because in this 'somewhat prequel' they find a similar looking ship with a similar looking interior inhabited by similar looking creatures on a similar looking planet but cos it is called LV 226, not Lv 426?
Anyway.... where do the Predators fit into all this?

Same, haha. I'm reading through all this and I just think it's over-speculation. Not an amazing movie, but it was quite good, and it was good enough to make me want to see it again. :)

I'd say it's more over-speculation from the fan boys on other forums who really, really want to like it.

I had the same problem with Indy IV, spent a couple of months telling people it was good before finally giving in to the crushing disappointment.

I felt like the story was a little weak, but, probably because they're saving quite a bit for the inevitable sequel. I do have to say though, the scene with the two ships colliding in mid-air was one of the most beautifully produced sequences I've seen in a long time.

technically the whole film was seamless....gotta be the best CGI I've ever seen, you couldnt tell what was CGI and what was practical.

indeed, Kudos to the British visual effects houses who did all the particle effects and animation (although the squid thing at the end looked shite), Hollywood is clearly the weak link here.
