any love for this unique project? aarni.info. interesting fella, i really liked his track on the skepticism tribute. i've also heard the track he did on the upcoming thergothon tribute and it's great. the split with umbra nihil gets a lot of play around my house.

I'm ambivalent, at first I think it's amateurish and nonsensical and then while listening I like it more than thought I would.

Umbra Nihil's album did nothing for me. Sterile and boring, but I heard the split was much better.

i thought this might be appreciation for Arnie, as in SCHWARZENEGER. Which i would be much more interested in

I've heard "Bathos." Strange album - psychedelic, unhinged doom rock would probably be the best way to describe it. Definitely unique. I agree with twIXta - Some of its a bit silly and dull but after a while it kinda grows on you. I wasn't aware that it was a one man project.

:: :: LIBER XLVII AARNI vel Lirum Larum :: ::

Prickle-Prickle, day 23 in the season of Confusion, 3174 Anno Mungi.

Ia Eris! Welcome to Liber XLVII Aarni, the forty-seventh edition of the official Aarni newsletter, bringing you some of the latest news on the band and their webshite and in-depth emanations from Aarni's most infamous metal god/retard Master Warjomaa! To resubscribe or to unsubscribe head to http://www.reverbnation.com/aarni?add_email=true

:: M.W.'S WORDS ::

Kreegah bungholo!

Currently we aka Yours Truly and genius Albert Frankenstein busy ourselves with making the Aarni t-shirt designs. The rags should be available in late Summer if Eris wills. More info on this once we channel it.

Aarni has run out of their Tohcoth copies so interested parties should go get them from Epidemie Records and its distributors instead. Incidentally I heard that both they and Firebox still have enough Bathos copies in stock to satisfy the huge global demand - and lots more. Patients who have recently requested copies of Tohcoth from us will get theirs, of course.

The vocals for 'Nemesis' have been recorded and they seem to have turned out rather nice. I also contributed some guitar soloing scatness to the forthcoming Umbra Nihil piece of sh...inola.

As we speak Aarni works on a death/t(h)rash metal song called 'Rat King' (go look this somewhat cryptozoological term up) as a sort of holiday from all the serious Lovecraftian stuff. Once finished, the song will be made available for free (duh!) downloading on our ReverbNation site.

Aarni 'Tohcoth' (Doom Avant Viking Folk).

Amazing album. The voice, haha, the voice. Like they pulled a passing viking in off the street to sing along. But's it works. It all works. Best thing Aarnie (or Umbra Nihil) have ever done.

This is what psycheDOOMelic said about 'Tohcoth'...

"contains a plethora of musical styles ranging from various subgenres of doom metal, 70’s prog and folk to ambient, while remaining charmingly guitar-driven. A number of chord progressions and melodies have been implemented so as to cause beneficial effects in the listener (hopefully) according to the principles of ‘sacred geometry’.

Great and unusual project.

Extreme Noise Terror were amazing. So were their fans. Any track more than 20 seconds long was greeted with derisive cries of 'too long, too slow' or 'fucking prog-rockers' from the faithful, most of whom looked as though they had but recently risen from shallow graves alongside the A12, the arterial road that runs from London to Ipswich. The only disappointment for Sheila, William and me was that the band weren't loud enough. We wanted to leave the show with blood trickling from our ears.

I have 'Bathos' and from what I can remember I wasn't that impressed. Good chance to play it again, though. Thanks.
