I couldn't tell from the site whether the stated price included the 15% VAT or not, since the price didn't change (of course, the postage did) if I set my mailing address to the UK instead of the USA. I e-mailed to ask and got this response this morning:

"Due to the high manufacturing costs involved in this project, we have been asked by the record company to sell this particular item at two different prices - one for inside the EC (inc VAT) and one for outside the EC (no VAT but set to be the same total price)."

So the actual, pre-VAT price is £65.22.

So, if you live in the EU, the price is £65.22.

If you live outside the EU, the price is £75.00.

In other words, if you live outside the EU, fuck you; you pay £9.78 more.

I can't say I'm really pleased to be told the record company has decided I should pay $15.50 more (at the current exchange rate) just based on where I live, since postage charges are location based. I call BULLSHIT.

I'm sure we Europeans had that with the WhiteBox. Could never figure out what the fuck that was all about!
I accept the further away = higher postal costs, but higher costs for the product, too? Go fuck yourself, you just lost a sale!

I've come across that a few times with US stuff. Most recently the last 2 self-released Bardo Pond CDrs. Usually I don't buy the item in question when they play this game, but this time I just consoled myself with sarcastic comments about a surcharge for living in the UK in the PayPal comments box. Pointless, but made me feel a *bit* better.

Not that it really matters but I think the new Bardo albums are cds not cdrs. Doesn't really take the sting out of the surcharge.
